Emblem of Ayutthaya
A conch enshrined on a tray inside the shrine or Prasat under the Mun Tree is the emblem of Ayutthaya. It was said that a large number of people died of cholera disease in 1347, therefore King U – Thong commanded his people to move to a new place which was surrounded by the rivers in Tambon Nong – Sa – Noh. He also ordered to build up the border, the holy house and to prepare the land for the new palace. During the construction, a conch was found under the Mun Tree. King U – Thong was very pleased with this marvelous evidence and then the Prasat was built to enshrine the conch.
